About Cellara

About

Cellara builds programmable cell and gene therapy platforms — from target discovery through clinical translation — for diseases with no durable treatment today.

Cellara was founded in 2016 by a small group of scientists who had spent their earlier careers watching promising gene and cell therapies stall in the handoff between academic discovery and industrial-scale manufacturing.

Rather than license out platform technology and step back, Cellara’s founders chose to build the manufacturing and clinical operations capability in-house from day one — a slower, more capital-intensive path, but one that keeps the people who designed a program accountable for getting it into patients.

Today the company runs fourteen active programs across four modalities, from early-stage gene editing discovery through a pivotal Phase III small-molecule trial.
